Sekitar Bench

Sekitar Bench is a design project that emerged from a close observation of self-built benches that frequently appear in everyday public spaces.

Through this project, Kigumi reinterprets these spontaneous forms into a modular bench system that reflects the value of desain sekitar— design shaped by context, by people, and by the needs that arise in the in-between spaces around us.

These structures often improvised from found materials and reveal a quiet yet persistent vernacular language of design rooted in necessity, adaptability, and social rhythm.
